AJAX killed Pageviews
We all know the time when everyone talked about how many hits they got for their website. That didn't last long until Pageviews killed Hits. Hits was useless for advertisers and pageviews meant something more useful when it came to how many visitors viewed how many pages.
Now in a time where AJAX is slowly taking over, Pageviews would mean pretty useless for advertisers. If a thousand different content were loaded using AJAX it could mean just One Pageview instead of one thousand. If we were talking in Hits with the traditional web technology that could mean something like 50,000 hits or more.
How could you convince your advertiser that AJAX made your site more powerful but delivered only one pageview in your web stats?
What's going to replace Pageviews?
Clickview?
