The double-edged sword

Technology is a double-edged sword. It certainly can bring us closer, keep us informed, but it can also set us apart, makes us isolate.

For instance I would’ve better liked this conversation over a coffee, but in spite am choosing to blog this so I can go to bed early. Indeed, a double-edged sword. The interaction simply takes place in another manner.

Internet is good for economy. It’s a proven boom over every sector of the industry and the world with the growth of it has become a smaller place.

It has, but what about the increase in solitary deaths after its introduction?

These days, some experts are even suggesting that our social bonds may be breaking down not in spite of these new technologies, but because of it.

You and me, we are experiencing the fundamental change of the very nature of communication, eroding traditional human bonds. What we may call ‘a shifting of the means of socializing’.

In Pope Benedict's Christmas message this year he said: Worship God not Technology. But his message was relayed to the mass via satelite. Technology and science has helped improve every aspect of our living, health, entertainment, communication and transport. All of us including the pope have to embrace technology to help us interact better, faster and more efficiently. Inevitably, our values have changed from the beaten path but we needn't despair as technology does provide the best opportunity to solve society's problems.
